CII LAUNCHES WORLD OF PROMISE REPORT

CII LAUNCHES WORLD OF PROMISE REPORT

Dubai, UAE: May 13, 2020: The Chartered Insurance Institute has released the 2020 edition of its annual guide to the development of the international insurance and financial planning professions.

“A World of Promise” has been produced by the CII, with valuable input from training partners and insurance institutes around the world.

It gives up to date country-by-county information profiling professionals working in insurance and financial planning, and contains detailed information on organisations promoting professional standards.

A World of Promise imparts a comprehensive overview of the profession throughout the world and builds on the success of the inaugural 2019 edition, entitled “A World Of Risk”.

Central to the guide is the survey of CII affiliated institutes, which reveals :

  • “raising professional standards” is the top issue facing the profession (cited by 61 per cent of institutes);
  • “trust is on the rise” (62% said it was increasing)
  • “E-learning is a key service being expanded by institutes” (67% identified this as a “top five” priority).

The guide also introduces the concept of ‘A Circle of Trust,’ which showcases the eight priorities being pursued by regulators, employers, educationalists, professionals and others to build trust. These priorities are:

  • Mainstream Education
  • Professional Standards
  • Insurance Accessibility
  • Cross-border Experience
  • Ecosystem Partnerships
  • Technology Disruption
  • Environmental Impact
  • Social Relevance.

The publication boasts a broad range of insightful articles by both CII leaders, and leaders in the wider profession.

Articles are provided on vital themes from 17 leaders in Asia Pacific, Central and South Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Europe – including practitioners, regulators, legislators, educators, CII experts.

In addition, country-specific contributions from 34 affiliated institutes and strategic partners are incorporated, including senior executives from The Financial Academy (Saudi Arabia), The Higher College of Technology, Dubai, and The Fry Group.

Mana Alkhamsan (Director General, The Financial Academy, Saudi Arabia) believes competencies must be matched with an ambitious market vision.

Looking ahead, he argues that one of the Academy’s most important strategic objectives is to “enable lifelong learning and strengthen relationships with the sector leaders and professionals to support collective efforts for continuous human capital development through research and events.”

Dr Ayesha Abdullah (Executive Dean, Business, Higher College of Technology, Dubai) believes that educational innovation is key to expanding the insurance and financial planning talent pool. She observes that “The emergence of blended learning provides the greatest benefit to society, to students and to prospective employers.”

Stuart McCulloch (Market Head, Middle East, The Fry Group) argues that internationally mobile customers expect a seamless experience.

This is only possible with sustained investment in people, as well as the “latest back office technology to improve client databases and ensure better segmentation of information”, principles which he applied when establishing the Fry Group’s new Dubai office.

Gaenor Jones, Regional Director of the CII in the Middle East, comments: “A World of Promise reflects the vast effort we’ve uncovered around the world to build an insurance and financial planning profession that commands public trust. This will be more important than ever as countries re-mobilise in the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The CII is committed to playing its role in the emergence of a powerful and trusted insurance and financial planning profession, and the publication of our guide makes a major contribution to that effort because it encourages insurance leaders around the world to adopt good practice, based upon greater insight into activities amongst peers.

“We are confident that it will be well received by individuals, corporates and stakeholders who are playing a key role in driving up standards in their respective regions.”
